We are an independent, heritage theatre, situated at the heart of the English Riviera, in the beautiful, vibrant, historic fishing port of Brixham.
Our home is a late Victorian, Grade II listed building. The theatre is purpose built and is part of the Town Hall complex. It is set right in the centre of Brixham. We boast a proscenium arch stage and a traditionally decorated auditorium. The theatre has an audience capacity of two hundred and fifty. We offer a year-round programme of events to cater for all tastes. These include a wide variety of live music performances, in particular, tribute bands. We stage plays, musicals and one-man shows by local performers and touring theatrical groups. We have regular Movie Nights with popular movies on a big screen and recently we have started showing National Theatre Live productions – these are professionaly filmed stage productions from the West End theatres. Do look at our exciting programme!
The Theatre is unusual, in that it is managed wholly by volunteers. We are always happy to hear expressions of interest from anyone who might like to join us. There are many areas in which you could assist our various teams. We apply the highest professional standards to our work.
We see ourselves as being very much rooted in our local community whilst welcoming guests from all over the country. Many of our visitors remark upon the friendly atmosphere of the venue.
Theatre-goers can be assured that we are mindful of Covid security, and are signed up to the SIS Compliance kite mark, to ensure up-to-date standards are met.
Travel from anywhere in South Devon is quite straightforward. We are immediately adjacent to a large public car park, the bus station and taxi rank. The building is fully accessible with lift access to the auditorium. Refreshments are available in our cosy, pop-up bar.
